Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

Suggestion of a Zika focused Journalist for World Health Assembly

Hi - we have been asked to nominate a Latin American journalist, preferably with experience of writing on Zika, for support to attend the forthcoming World Health Assembly in Geneva. WHCA (Franklin Apfel) will provide air fare and cover costs including accommodation. As I understand it they will be part of a broader group of journalists from different regions supported to cover the World Health Assembly meeting where there will be a major focus on Zika WHCA will also help with Visas's though these can be difficult so if the person already has a Schengen that would be excellent. There is a rush on this. Would very much appreciate quick responses suggesting people. Thanks - Warren

Thanks to those who shared journalist names for possible support to attend the World Health Assembly with a focus on Zika. We have shared those back to WHCA. If there are other suggestions please send them asap. Will need to send any additional suggesitons by tomorrow (Tuesday). Thanks - Warren
